On Making "At Long Last...Christmas"
We have been collecting Christmas songs for many years. The Meaning of Christmas and A Song of Christmas are L&N originals written in 1990 and 1992, respectively. They had been released exclusively to
radio, though A Song Of Christmas also went to fans on our mailing list, albeit in a different version than appears here. The version that appears here was recorded for the Velvel Records release "A Christmas To Remember" in 1998. Light Of The Stable, first recorded by Emmylou Harris in the mid 1970s, and was a favorite song that we cut with our band and our friends in The Brothers Figaro, Bill Bonk and Phil Parlapiano, plus the stellar singer Julie Christensen. We sent it to radio in 1991. A few of the more traditional tunes were recorded for the 1994 Fanclub Cassette (when it was still a Christmas release, before procrastination turned it into a New Year's release until they were discontinued in 2006) and a few were recorded in early 2002 specifically for the CD release, including Nar Juldagsmorgon Glimmar, a Swedish carol sing by family when he was a child. The title comes from our long-held tendency to procrastinate, and that it took more than ten years from the recording of our first Christmas song to actually release an entire Christmas album. Worth waiting for, we hope.
